I have a broad range of experience and structure therapy according to your needs and style. During our meetings I may use a variety of techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, or other methods to assist you in your growth and recovery. Adolescents
Growing up can be a hard journey for many of our kids. Technology, social media, academic stressors and peer pressure (just to name a few common challenges) can be overwhelming. Obstacles and overcoming those challenges are a normal part of adolescents and becoming an adult. Many of the skills we need to be successful in life are not taught in school. Rachel believes building a “toolbox” of coping skills and strategies can help adolescents navigate their way into adulthood and help improve happiness for a lifetime. The way young adults and parents interact can be challenging. Using Positive Discipline techniques, as well as facilitating communication and learning as a team, many parents and kids find interacting more meaningful and more successful
EMDR & Trauma
I am a trained EMDR therapist and believer in it’s effectiveness at treating trauma. I strongly believe strength can result from our trauma and we often can learn important life skills...but that is easier said than done! The dynamics of trauma are complicated and the multiple negative outcomes it can have on our mind, body and soul are vast. Unresolved trauma can show up as depression, anxiety, relationship struggles and general dissatisfaction. EMDR therapy is a gentle, easy process with powerful results. Learn more about EMDR therapy and how this technique might benefit you on your journey.
Parenting with Positive Discipline
Parenting! One of our most important and most challenging roles. In my continuous search to do my best as a parent of two children I study, learn, practice and try all I can to raise healthy happy children. While there is no official parenting manual there are guides and experts to assist with healthy parenting. I am a certified Positive Discipline Parent Facilitator, a philosophy and set of tools to guide parents and children to empower kids, teach life skills and create connection.

How will you shape future chapters of your life? Therapy can help us navigate the most challenging times or begin the journey of changing negative core beliefs, turning toward experiencing the whole self and lasting well-being. We can make a sustainable change by welcoming present-moment awareness and developing healing responses to traumatizing life events. I work with clients to resolve suffering, build self-compassion and self-acceptance, and create new habits. Clients can expect sessions to include a solution-based approach using mindfulness, acceptance, psychological flexibility, and evidence-based skill building.
Therapy should be a judgment-free and secure space to explore emotions and experiences. Our trauma-informed offices provide varied seating options and allow you to evaluate and create the personal space that feels most comfortable for you. I specialize in holistic modalities focused on talk therapy, body awareness, mindfulness, and expression. Over the past twenty years, I have been a psychotherapist, program administrator, Applied Human Behavior Professor, and clinical supervisor. My clinical style focuses on a range of third-wave therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy, CBT interventions, Parts therapy, and the PERMA model of wellbeing.
