Meet Ashleigh Kosses, Holistic Health Practitioner

Welcome! I am passionate about empowering you with tools that support you on your wellness journey. I specialize in Somatic Breathwork, Reiki, and Integrative Nutrition. My training a Bachelor of Science, certification as a Somatic Breathwork Practitioner, Level 1 and Level 2 Reiki Practitioner with a focus in Medical Intuitive, as well as a Integrative Nutrition Health Coach certification.

True health extends beyond just the physical addressing the mind, body and soul. Rooted in the understanding that we are energetic beings, Asheigh helps individuals clear energetic blockages, allowing life force energy (chi) to flow freely. When our energy is stagnant or blocked—it can manifest as physical tension, pain, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection from ourselves and our purpose. Whether you’re seeking relief from tension or longing for a deeper connection to yourself, Ashleigh offers a safe and supportive space to guide you on your healing journey. 

Somatic Awareness

Somatic awareness refers to the conscious perception and interpretation of bodily sensations and internal states, essentially meaning being mindful of your physical feelings and understanding what they signal about your overall well-being; it's about actively noticing sensations like tension, tightness, or relaxation within your body and connecting them to your emotional state. 


Key points about somatic awareness:

  • Mind-body connection: It emphasizes the link between your mind and body, allowing you to better understand how physical sensations can reflect your emotional experiences. 
  • Not just feeling sensations: It goes beyond simply recognizing a physical sensation like hunger or fatigue, but also interpreting what that sensation means in the context of your overall health. 
  • Application in therapy: Somatic therapy uses techniques to cultivate somatic awareness to address trauma or other emotional issues stored in the body.

Integrative nutrition health is a holistic approach to nutrition that considers the whole person, looking beyond just food choices to encompass lifestyle factors like stress, environment, and psychology, to identify the root causes of health issues and create personalized dietary plans for optimal well-being; it aims to use food as medicine to prevent and manage health conditions by taking a customized approach to each individual's unique needs. Key points about integrative nutrition:

  • Holistic perspective: It views health as interconnected, considering physical, mental, and emotional aspects. 
  • Focus on root causes: It goes beyond symptoms to investigate underlying factors contributing to health issues. 
  • Lifestyle modifications: Beyond diet, it may incorporate lifestyle changes like stress management, sleep hygiene, and exercise. 
  • Functional foods and supplements: May include recommendations for specific functional foods and supplements based on individual needs. 

Examples of Somatic Work

Examples of practices that promote somatic awareness:

  • Reiki healing is a Japanese form of alternative medicine that involves the practitioner placing their hands on or near the body of the recipient to transmit "universal life energy". 
  • Deep breathing exercises: Focusing on the physical sensations of your breath to anchor yourself in the present moment 
  • Progressive muscle relaxation: Tense and then relax different muscle groups in your body to release tension 
  • Movement practices like yoga or dance: Paying attention to how your body moves and feels during movement 
  • Mindful nutrition: Eating with intention toward mental and physical well being
